Raised Beds and Planter Boxes
We have a variety of raised bed systems of different sizes which are made to order. You can also order custom sizes depending on your project and garden dreams. Raised beds work well to maintain weed control, keep animals out of garden areas, manage moisture content in the soil, and offer a clean landscape look. They can also be modified for placement of cold frames (covered boxes) to help extend the season and protect crops from frost for year-round growing.
These beds are made from rough cut lumber, which means that they are the actual dimensions stated and the rough cut lumber is not kiln dried or planed. Rough cut lumber can check and will weather over time and joins can swell or shrink as the wood acclimates to its environment.
The wood is not treated with any stain or paint and is kept in its natural state. We do not recommend treating any raised beds as these chemicals can leach into your growing medium. When the bed has come to the end of its life, it can be taken apart and recycled for other purposes.
Ordering
We are building raised beds by pre-order, and depending on order volume, we can typically complete an order within a week from the date of ordering. On our standard sizes for a small order we do not require a deposit. However, for larger orders of our standard sizes, we will require a 25% non-refundable deposit.
Custom work
We can build planters and raised beds to any size you choose. Let us know your ideas and garden plan and we can provide a quote based on the dimensions and size of beds for your garden. With custom work, we require a 25% non-refundable deposit based on the quoted finished price.
Delivery
We can provide delivery to your site depending on your location.
Installation
We can also install the raised beds on your site, our rate is $25 / hour. This could include site prep, design, and placement.
Products Available
Standard Garden Box 4 feet by 8 feet
Made from 2 x 4 milled rough cut lumber. Each level is made from 2 sections of 2 x 4 to give the bed a soil depth of 8 inches. These sections are capped with 1 x 3 to create a finished edge. Corners are reinforced with 1 x 6, making for a strong garden box. Sections can be stacked on top of each other to provide deeper raised beds.

DeadWood Designs wood products can be viewed at the Twisted Roots Farm stand located at 305 Gussieville Road in Judique. The Farm Stand is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm, closed on Wednesdays. We are also up at the farm stand in person on Saturday’s from 1 pm to 3 pm.
