Private Goat Walks

Join us for a walk in the woods with goats!

Private Goat Walks

As we have had such a wonderful response from our weekend goat walks by donation, we have decided to also include the opportunity for private goat walk bookings.

Starting this January 2023, we will be offering private winter goat walks in the woods here at Twisted Roots Farm!!

This fall, we expanded our trails allowing for more walking time with goats and a beautiful stroll by the brook that runs through the farm.  We also thought it would be a great idea to also have the option to sit by a campfire and have a warm drink as a part of this amazing walk in the woods.

If you’re interested in joining us for this winter activity, please read our description below with pricing.

Perhaps you are an individual who would like to spend some one-on-one time with a group of goats in a beautiful forest setting.  Or maybe you are a family looking for a way to connect with one another outdoors and want to be able to walk with the goats just with your family.  It could also be a fun activity to do as part of a birthday celebration, anniversary getaway, or as a tourist checking out the local activities.  Perhaps you work with highly sensitive people who would greatly benefit from the calming and loving energy of the goats in a smaller, more intimate setting.  Goats are perfect for those with sensory sensitivities and other unique gifts that our fast-paced culture does not make space for as the goats are quiet, gentle, and tender.

The forest here at the farm is a gorgeous mix of different species with lush mossy areas and beautiful birdsong, creating the perfect space for relaxation and that deep connection with the wild that we all long for.  The brook that flows through the forest is pure bliss.  Everyone who has had the opportunity to spend time by her gorgeous flowing waters has been awe-struck.  This brook is a truly hidden gem.

Offering these walks for private groups or individuals also allows for a more intimate experience with the goat girls.  They are incredibly loving and gentle, with a mere cuddle providing wondrous healing energy and comfort.  There is so much to be said for the connections that can be made between humans and other beings, with no need for words or discussion, just being in the presence of one another can mend those tears in the fabric of our lives that have so often been left unattended.  Goats don’t care what you look like, how you dress, or your social status, all that they care about is that you are gentle and present with them.  They are the most fabulous teachers for being in the moment, remembering to be playful, and that happiness need not be complicated.

The walks are about 1 hour in length and we cover about 2 km of forested trail. During the walk, we make a few stops along the way, the first being at an open pasture area where the goats love to forage and have been helping us revive the space back into the original pasture that it was many years ago.  At this time, you can choose to take a seat on one of the many benches available and wait for a goat to take a foraging break to come over and say hello.  This is also the perfect spot for welcoming a goat kid, when we have some at the farm, to come and sit on your lap.  They love being held and are so incredibly soft.  It’s also a great viewing area to watch the goats jumping on various structures and just being the all-round lovable goof balls that they are.

We then continue onwards, making one more short stop along the brook with the goats in a gorgeous mossy area lovingly named Emma’s Forest, named after a little kitten we were blessed to rescue who graced our lives for far too short of a time.  This area is just so pretty, with moss everywhere and the brook flowing by creating at a soft bubbling soundscape.  After returning the goats, we complete the walk with a stop at our sanity saving screened porch that overlooks the small waterfall that claimed both our hearts at first sight.  This place is pure magic and has blown away every single person who has had the opportunity to spend time there.  The brook is home to trout, and if you’re lucky enough, you may even catch a glimpse of them as they make their unbelievable journey up the waterfall.  We have also been graced by owl, hawk, and raven while sitting at this spot.

So if you, or a group of you, would like to book a private goat walk or have any questions, please connect with us through facebook, instagram, email, or the good ol’ phone.

We are fairly flexible on the day and time for these private bookings, but are a working farm so we do require some notice.

The cost for a private goat walk for 1-6 people is $50. The walk takes about an hour. We like to keep the groups small providing more interaction with the goats and therefore like to cap the group size at 6.

If you would like to add on a campfire and warm drink, the cost for 1-6 people is $100. This option is about 2 hours in length

Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to make a booking. We hope to see you out on a goat walk and thank everyone for your ongoing support!

Be sure to meet the goats on our web page and check out their bios!
